1. Basic Characteristics

Granular caustic soda for soap, also known as granular caustic soda, is a type of solid caustic soda for soap (sodium hydroxide) product with the chemical formula: NaOH. It can be categorized by particle size into coarse caustic soda and fine caustic soda. Fine caustic soda has a particle size of approximately 0.6-0.8mm and resembles laundry detergent.

2. Production Process

Evaporation and concentration: Liquid sodium hydroxide is evaporated to remove moisture, resulting in a molten state.

Granulation: The molten sodium hydroxide is cooled and solidified into granules through spray granulation or drum granulation.

Drying: Further drying is performed to remove residual moisture and obtain the finished product.

3. Storage Environment

Solid caustic soda is highly susceptible to deliquesce and reaction with carbon dioxide. Therefore, it must be stored in an absolutely dry and airtight container.

Granular caustic soda for soap is solid sodium hydroxide and possesses all the chemical properties of sodium hydroxide. When exposed to air, it absorbs moisture, deliquesces, and reacts with carbon dioxide, causing deterioration. Therefore, dry and airtight packaging is also required. Domestically, 25kg three-layer plastic woven bags are commonly used for granular caustic soda.

4. Main Applications

In the chemical industry, it is used to manufacture formic acid, oxalic acid, borax, phenol, sodium cyanide, soap, synthetic fatty acids, and synthetic detergents. In the textile printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a desizing agent, scouring agent, and mercerizing agent for cotton fabrics, as well as a solvent for vat dyes and Haichang Blue.

It is used in the production of paper and cellulose pulp. In the smelting industry, it is used to manufacture aluminum hydroxide, aluminum oxide, and metal surface treatment agents.

5. Differences from flake and liquid caustic soda for soap

Granular caustic soda: Granular in form, with good fluidity, suitable for automated dosing. Flake caustic soda: Easy to weigh, but prone to clumping. Liquid caustic soda: Typically has a concentration of 30-50%, resulting in high transportation costs and suitable for local use.

6. Packaging and Storage
